About Velká pardubická
The Velka Pardubicka is the most dangerous horse race in the world. In the more than 127 runnings of the great race there has never been a year in which every competitor was able to finish. In some years no horse has finished the arduous journey. Each obstacle is unique, and none more famous than the deadly Taxis Ditch. Taxis, as it is known, is the fourth obstacle in the race, and until activists forced a change, was a brutal test consisting of a 1.5 metre tall hedge behind which hid a 2 metre deep, 5 metre long, ditch. Over thirty horses have died when attempting to clear this obstacle alone.
