About Nymburk
City of Nymburk is a city in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, located 45 km east of Prague on the (Labe) Elbe River. The historical centre is an urban protected area for it's unic architecture. Originally the city was surrounded with two lines of fortification and ditches, only few fragments remainded until now. The part from the picture comes from the beginning of 20th century and was romantically reconstructed. Most dominant local company is JDK, spol. s r. o. which manufactures refrigeration equipment and exports them all over the world. Among the important figures are Bohumil Hrabal, who was born in the local brewery and Božena Němcová, who was also born here (both famouse Czech writers.
